I would love to hear some feedback from anyone that went from commercial banking to investment banking, and how they transitioned and leveraged their experience. I'm interning at an international commercial bank on their life sciences team this summer with the hopes of applying to IB full time (middle-market or boutique most likely). You'll definitely get a look with your commercial banking deal experience/background. It's just where you take it from there (personality, and obviously technicals is key). You shouldn't have a problem with middle-market or boutiques.

Definitely possible to make the jump, also possible to go from FT CB to IB as a lateral. As with many things, the better known your bank is, the more credibility people will give you (i.e. someone in CB at JPM will have an easier route to IB than someone at a smaller regional bank).

Hi all,
I am a sophomore student major in Finance attending Baruch College. Currently on my resume I have a 3.7+ GPA, heavy finance club activities, a finance internship from an international fashion corporation, and an IB internship from a small regional bank.
Recently I just got an offer from a top commercial bank for its commercial banking summer internship, also an offer from JPM for one of its middle office division. Which offer should I accept so that it would bolster my chance of getting an IB internship from a Bb next year when recruiting season comes?
