Complicated Recruiting Situation. What to Do Now?

I am a current sophomore and have been striking out in SA 2025 recruitment. I was originally on track to graduate a year early (May 2025), but in January I had an extenuating circumstance that now prevents me from graduating early. Since then I have been trying to recruit hard for SA 2025 but have not had any luck given I was late.

I do have a semi-reputable MM IB internship this summer, which I received in the fall (when I was still on track to graduate early), and asked if I could reapply for the intern program for 2025 and was not told a definitive answer (leaning more towards a no). Should I continue hunting in the summer for SA 2025? If nothing works out for SA 2025, should I recruit FT

How/why would you recruit for FT this year when you won't be able to graduate early? Do you mean FT 2026?

On your internship this summer - firms really dislike it when people pretend to be graduating early, get an internship, and then revert back to their original date and use that as a sophomore internship... understand if it wasn't intentional but I would not count on your firm letting you do 2 summers there. See if things change over the course of the summer.

Think you just need to keep grinding for SA 25. It's not late enough at all to call off the search, firms will continue recruiting into the fall. Even if it's not the perfect role, get something for next summer and can re-recruit for FT 2026 if you want to.
