Connected with a VP at JP Morgan but waited a day to send the message did I screw up the opportunity?

I'm not really sure how to go about connecting with people through LinkedIn and everything so I wanna know if I fumbled the ball here. And what tips/anecdotes you guys would have for non-targets who're tryna break in. Some reference points: 3.99 GPA as a Business Management and Philosophy Major, internship at a VC fund(UGF), and I'm managing a 1 million AUM investment portfolio, and should be noted that I was in a program with NASA going into last fall.

I should also mention that I'm applying to transfer to a Target school as well so also let me know where to put my priorities.
