Considering Tech (SWE/PM) for FT as an incoming IB SA 2021

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a junior majoring in both business and computer science. I secured an offer for next summer in IB but have been looking at my friends working in MBB/tech and seeing that they have some pretty great comp and work-life balance and been reconsidering my decision.

I went into IB because I think that the industry is interesting and enjoy the people, but also find consulting and tech interesting and think that I would enjoy it as well. Due to my majors, I have a decent bit of flexibility for figuring out what I want to do for FT and currently thinking about whether it would be worth to pivot or not. Would love to hear any thoughts and pros/cons of this from people who've seen both sides of the coin or just understand both spaces pretty well.

Also, I know similar questions have been asked on this thread but its usual people saying "they are very different" and you can't do both, but I feel like I'm not really in that position and could very well switch if it was something I really wanted to do.

tldr: college junior majoring in business+cs interested in lucrative career considering IB, MBB, tech as an incoming IB SA 2021.
