Hey guys. I'm a college student going into IB (received my offer a couple months ago) and had a couple questions.
I run a Youtube Channel and post prolifically on Tiktok. Would this be a problem at the bank? Ideally I don't want to give up content creation because its been quite lucrative.

Any source of income must be disclosed. Banks will look at it and decide whether there’s a conflict of interests. If they determine one to exist, you’ll be told accordingly. It shouldn’t be a big deal, unless you are doing crazy stuff out there.
Obviously his is different since he's posting stuff online but how would a bank even find out about a side hustle? Say you did ecomm or consulting or something else on the side, how would they ever find out? I feel like as long as you don't let it interfere with your work they'd never know
I don’t see what the problem is. If you don’t disclose it and they somehow find out, OP could be potentially let go (this is company policy across most banks). If there are no conflict of interests, then disclosing it should be relatively easy. My point is that not disclosing this has a potential downside. It’s not worth risking it for something that probably won’t be looked at.
I get what you're saying and in theory you're right about if it doesn't affect your work then they shouldn't care, but I've heard from others that seniors do care. You can read about tons of people that disclosed their side hustle to their boss and then were let go a month later "because they weren't committed to the company, etc.". I feel like seniors in banking would be even worse about this because they want you to sell your soul to them and a side hustle gives you the option to leave eventually if it scales
