Corp. Dev. or IFC

Wondering if I can get any input on my current situation. About to wrap up my IB program. I have an offer for a Fortune 500 Corp. Dev. role and possibility to land a role with IFC Investment Analyst role?

Should I pursue the ICF role or just pass since the Corp. Dev. role is pretty solid (They even worked with me on comp. and start date)?

Thanks. You familiar with IFC? I know they place well for Business School but information has been tough to nail down for the role outside of roles and responsibility.

Yes. They recruited at my school and several alumni have experience there. It is a different mentality and the culture is what you would expect for a World Bank organization. The approach to investment is only quasi-relatable to how you would approach them in the private sector.

I would say if you prefer infrastructure investing, then go IFC. The majority of its investments are in Telecom, Utilities and Banking. If your end goal is buy side, C-level, etc., go Corp Dev.

Thanks for the information. Not really interested in Infrastructure investing (that was the sense I got). I know they place well for MBA, but the Corp. Dev. told me about placing well. Plus my personality is a little more relaxed (like the Corp. Dev. team I interviewed with).

Wondering if you can expand a little on their approach being: "quasi-relatable to how you would approach them in the private sector?"

It is funded by the World Bank and is a hybrid between traditional PE and micro finance. Think about how you would approach investing for public or economic development vs. for value creation.

Gotcha. A buddy of mine will be in that role and the comp is pretty solid along with B-School placement. But the bureaucracy of the organization would be a big turn off for me.
