CS London Best Teams

Hi all,

I have signed an offer for an IB SA position at Credit Suisse in London. Since we have to submit our preferences for teams, which ones are the strongest ones in terms of dealflow, reputation and exit opps?

I have heard that LevFin/M&A/FS are good groups, but I would like to know more about if there are any other strong groups.

Besides, do you think that the whole Archegos situation will matter a lot in terms of getting a return offer for FT?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, thanks for your response. What do you think about CRRH? Is it a good team? I was thinking about ranking my options in the following way, but after that information I don't know if TMT is a good choice:

1. M&A

2. TMT

3. Financial Sponsors

CRRH includes consumer & retail (CoRe). I think CS really does not have a strong healthcare or real estate franchise in EMEA either they were one of the few BBs not on Vonovia/DW this year. If you put Financial Sponsors third you might as well leave it off your list. They only consider interns that put them first due to high demand.

TMT is still a decent team. I would prefer M&A though. Hope this helps

They subdivided CM and Sector in this years application, so don't think you can do LevFin

Hi, yes I think I can because I converted my spring week offer and the offer is generalist

The process after the spring week is different from the regular one, it is carried out right after the spring week (April/May), so I am afraid I can't help you there

Hey man, congrats on the offer. Levfin and sponsors are the best teams in the bank so I’d put them as top 2; note that sponsors take more interns than they can hire, so your chances at conversion are lower. Levfin takes the exact amount they wanna hire and the team is pretty nice, know someone who interned with the team and said they were de-staffed for a day when the whole team went out. The UK team isn’t the best, but some of them seem really personable too so I’d probably go UK for 3. Go with m&a for 4. If you’re serious about getting fsg/levfin I’d suggest reaching out to people from the respective groups otherwise they won’t even look at your CV. Congrats again!

Like I've said, the team is pretty good regarding headcount; they take however many interns that they want to join FT. Number is usually 2-4 from what I know but don't quote me on this.

Regarding "years that they have not hired" are you referring to SA or FT? They would not take x number of SA and not convert any of them, so I'm assuming you're referring to SA. I haven't heard of this, but I'd assume it would have been a number of years ago even if it were true. I know for a fact that they'll be recruiting this year so you have nothing to worry about.

I just got CS London SA offer (converted from NYC offer) and am planning to sign  in the next couple of days. Was also wondering about group strength in London vs NYC - I'm currently considering CoRe, FS, LevFin, and M&A. Also wondering what the allocation process is like in general - how intense is it and do people generally get one of their preferred groups or is that not a given?
