DCM -> Buy side

How much is this possible? Have you ever seen people make this switch?
I would imagine private credit would be an appropriate exit, thoughts?
I have seen DCM to LevFin commonly or relatively commonly, but I am just curious if the switch straight to buy side could be feasible. Thanks everyone

Depends. It’s not a lending job, as many people think. It’s a function under IB but falls more under Sales and Trading than actual IB. It’s a product group but mostly a sales role. It’s not the same as leveraged finance, where you’ll get more direct lending opportunities. You may have knowledge on the credit side but the transferable skill sets may not be the same for something like private credit.

Hope this helps.

If you understand what private credit is then my answer will be sufficient enough to comprehend whether DCM could lead you there.
