Depends on what type of credit you structure and originate. I can you see you heading to high yield fund. Private equity is not out of the question. At least I have seen it happen in Australia. I have even seen people from Big 4 accounting firms get into PE here so there you go.
I don't think good things when I hear "non-BB" for DCM...are we talking something like an RBC or WF, or something like a Stifel or SunTrust?
Did DCM as an intern this summer at a "non-BB" firm as well. (Think Newstar, Citizens Financial, SunTrust etc.) The skills you get aren't that transferable. You have a lot of interaction with PE firms, but financial modeling is pretty much non-existant (analysts maybe spent 5%-10% of their time on that). LevFin pretty much handles it all. To compensate I had to go out and look for a part-time M&A non-paid internship to do on the side as well. Got way more experience from that.
In DCM you mainly do powerpoint formatting.. Everything else PE firms want is taken care of by LevFin.
So are you suggesting that DCM have very limited exit ops because of not-so-transferable skills?

Hi all,
I have recently accepted an entry level analyst debt capital markets role at a bank(think similar to KeyBanc, PNC, BNY). I come from a state school that i would consider a semi target at best. The role is not in NYC but a large city in the northeast. I was sort of curious what typical exit opportunities are for people in debt capital markets/ loan syndications. Their clients are all middle market for the most part. I do not really know what I want to do after. People who start here do tend to stay here. The company seems to have a great culture, the pay seems good(starting around 90K base, 15 bonus signing), which is lower than typical banking but also the work week is typically around 60-65 hours, and lower COL than NYC. I am excited about this role and there is a great chance I will stay for a while but just am curious what potential opportunities are likely.
Not sure about the actual question (sorry), but for what it's worth, 90k base and 15k signing for a 1st year analyst is definitely street, maybe even above.
