DCM Exit Ops

Hi everyone,

I've seen some good threads on this topic, but was wondering if anyone had any recent experiences or stories to share on this. I was wondering what kinds of opportunities exist after doing a stint in DCM, both internally and externally. I enjoy the job, but I have realized this is not what I want to do long term. I enjoy markets, so I think S&T could be a good fit, but I understand they hire on a need-basis in that role so who knows. Could see myself in banking, as I do enjoy the advisory work, but also don't know how natural that transition would be considering pricing debt issuance really isn't rocket science so I don't know if I have the transferrable skillset for that. Would prefer to stay at the bank I am at now, but am open minded.

Thanks all!

I went to a bespoke ECM group that models (won't say more for Opsec).. currently interviewing for Growth Equity roles and thinking of lateraling internally to coverage for a few months - not because I will learn much more but rather to just expedite recruiting. Recruiters DO hit you up for buy side in ECM, I am just not the best at interviewing / need more polish so that is on me.

Unless you know you'll likely be a superstar trader, you may likely make more money in DCM over the long term and have an easier time switching into IB

S&T is a bit of a crapshot with stability
