Deferring IB SA by a year?

I got sick at the start of this school year and will have missed two whole semesters by this summer. I'll now be graduating a year late. I have an SA at a BB lined up for this summer which I got before falling ill. Are BBs ever flexible in allowing interns to push internships back to the next summer? Or would it be better to do the internship, try to get a return offer, and try to get the FT offer pushed back? Or should I just try to recruit for SA 2025? Looking for any advice, thank you for your help.

Appreciate this. Do you have any insight into if they'd pick up on me missing a year of school during the background check? Would rather work this summer and push the FT back but of course my overall priority is preserving the opportunity to work FT.

Hmm I think they would call your school admin office and if you are still registered as a student it shouldn't matter, but that's just my guess. Would keep in mind though that if you intern without being able to return the next year and don't tell them, they might get annoyed since they specify during the recruiting process what your graduation date should be.

Unrelated but got me thinking. Let's say you are able to push back internship date by a year, what is to stop someone with 2 offers pushing one of them back by a year incase they don't convert the main one and would have to rerecruit anyway?

To your question I know of one person in a similar situation and they are doing summer this year and the firm let them push back FT to 2 years after
