For internship interviews - first round was just some above-average difficulty mathy techs, nothing really O&G-specific. SD was very conversational. They drilled (lol) you on your opinions for the future of O&G, current policy developments, things like that. I think I only got one true "technical" in the SD and it was about what buyers look for in LBO targets or why they use leverage or smth

Definitely harder than generalist M&A groups in NYC due to additional industry knowledge on top of vanilla M&A technicals.
Jeffries was extremely O&G technical specific, Gugg was also fairly technical but not nearly as bad. Have heard TPH is fairly technical as well.
Have heard Moelis is very technical as well
