Demystifying Private Capital Advisory (SA)

Any thoughts on this group in an EB setting? Addressing areas like 1. the interview 2. possible exists 3. vs IB - would be super helpful.

Importantly - any good places to start in terms of interview prep?

Anything helps.

At Lazard, it’s just equity placement for PE funds. HIG will decide to raise a new fund and they’ll tap Lazard to help market HIG, their strategy, etc to pension funds so they will commit 10-50 mil to the fund.

If you’re interested in investment banking, it’s not really the same thing at all.

Some EBs have Private Capital Advisory and a separate Private Funds group (names vary by bank unfortunately) but the first is more traditional banking (focusing on PIPEs etc in normal companies and appreciate equity markets/ECM experience) and the second is what was described above but may also include secondaries transactions which are more technical.
