Didnt Update GPA - Now Stressing.

Hi everyone,

I was applying for BB bank on the West Coast. Nailed the super day and got an offer in their M&A group. First time breaking into IB and very excited for the opportunity.

First semester Junior year I had a 3.80 and put this on my resume. I then had a tough rest of junior year, with pesonal things going on, and fell down to a 3.61. I was disappointed with myself and slight dissociation from that GPA so I just never updated it on my applications.

I got the offer letter, and in it it states I will have to agree with background checks, one of which is agreeing to send over transcript. I'm very stressed. Do I email them and say I fucked up? Do I hope they just don't follow through on the transcript thing? Need any advice.

Does your resume have a date on it? Also, did you apply in second semester junior year or had you already applied by then?

Do not tell them right now, first of all. A lot of banks don't even ask for transcripts even if they say they do.

If they do ask, and hopefully your resume is not dated, go with the "the 3.80 was accurate as of first semester and my grades weren't out yet when I was updating my resume, the resume was outdated". I doubt it'll be a huge problem, yeah it isn't great but it's not like you are lying about GPA outright. Just don't let your GPA keep slipping, if it's like a 3.2 they will question it a lot more than "point in time" GPAs.
