Do banks do background checks on unpaid internships?
Have a few unpaid internships, with one being with a boss I haven’t been able to have contact with. Will they check each unpaid experience and how do I deal with a boss I can’t connect with?
Boss and I also left on unfavorable terms, how do i proceed with this?
Just list the internship and provide the general number for the firm. Banks will only verify employment dates with HR unless you specifically list someone as a reference.

Background checks are generally outsourced to third party vendors. If the vendor cannot verify and your potential employer refuses to ignore it, they may ask you for a copy of your W-2, previous tax return, or offer letter. I had this happen once and provided my offer letter.
Hypothetically could one list fake experiences and then forge a letter when asked?
Maybe, but I would highly suggest not doing that. Executives have been caught and fire for this, sometimes decades into their careers.
What if your previous boss does not like you

it was 1 out of 5 internships on my res
One of our EU subsidiaries has a unit that has both involvement with non-profits but also a small number of unpaid internships. They will be checked like anyone else for the job.
A criminal background check would be the very least required, regardless of whether that person gets paid or not. And I don't think there are too many banks that don't pay interns.
