Do Banks Normally Send out Rejections before Offers?
Hey guys I interviewed with a few BB and MM banks and from some I am hearing that others that got interviewed had already received their rejection emails. I have not heard back from said banks. Is this normal? Or have I somehow got lost in the shuffle?
Thanks for help.
Follow up with the folks you interviewed with. In my experience, rejection letters go out after offers are dealt with in case any that receive offers don't accept them.
Depends. For associate recruiting, offers and rejections are given out at the same time. HR calls rejections while recruiting captains call offers.
I would guess that certain people are kept on "hold" and not told anything in case people don't accept offers.
Which banks send out formal notice for internship application rejections? (Originally Posted: 01/23/2012)
I just want to know which banks major bulge bracket ones would send out rejection of application letters for internships or do most banks only contact you if your "present skills match their needs" without a response? I appreciate the the information.
Most will send out rejections when the position is officially closed in the HR database. aka, when the position is filled.
Do BB's Notify Rejection? (Originally Posted: 01/19/2010)
I go to a target and applied to a bunch of banks for sales and trading internships through my career center. The date for the interviews are coming up in 2 weeks. On the career center, it still says on the status of my application that it is "Undecided".
Do banks bother to notify you that they have decided not to give you an interview or is it just left "Undecided"?
Is it pretty safe to assume I did not get interviews since it is so close to the interview day?
I can't certainly say for all firms, but in my case I wasn't notified when I clearly got rejected.
we had invited, wait list, not invited...
Do banks send out rejections for SA? (Originally Posted: 12/09/2014)
So I've been waiting endlessly for several SA positions and then my friend told me the banks don't even send out rejection emails if they don't want me. Is that true? And is it good to network with people in the bank after I'm rejected by this bank? Thanks for any input.
Don't expect to get a rejection email. I didn't get one from the majority of the firms I sought SA positions with, and I don't mean to say that I got the offers!
The way it played out for me and my friends who shared the details with me honestly was:
interview --> email --> interview --> email
The process died (and a rejection was assumed) when the chain broke. In my experience, it looked like this:
"Dear sg.andersen,
It was great to meet you yesterday. We will be conducting another round of interviews following a superday in the next weeks. I will send you the dates/times as soon as they are determined."
I would then reply, and if, after following up once or twice more, I didn't hear back, I assumed the process was over with that group.
I received only two definite rejection messages. One was an automated message full of disclaimers that was sent in a timely manner, the other was a very open explanation of what the firm looks for, but I didn't receive it until the following September!
I've only ever received phone calls for SA rejections.
If it's OCR I believe some schools mandate firms to send a rejection email within 2 weeks after your first round on-campus interview. If it's not OCR generally you'll get an a rejection email in March/April well after the interview process is over. In lots of cases you'll never receive a rejection email.
Notified If Rejected? (Originally Posted: 02/09/2013)
After the first round interviews, is it standard for Big Banks and elite boutiques to notify you if you haven't been accepted for the next round of interviews? I've been accepted to a superday the day after my first round for one of the banks, but none of the other ones have responded and its been over a week.
From my experience, companies usually contact you within hours if not a few days to let you know if they want you for the next round. If they haven't, it usually means you've been rejected for the next round.
However, this is just my experience, and it's for internships. I don't know if its the same for full-time.
Yes, they will usually contact you if you didn't make it to the next rounds of interviews. Firms would sometimes take months to send out the generic rejection email.
I applied to MS for research associate, they sent me back a rejection email few days later.
You'll know usually within 2-3 days if you moved onto the next round or not. If this is OCR, then they'll send a rejection email at some point
