Do I have a chance in landing a 2019 SA internship?

Canadian sophomore here that goes to a semi-target(Rotman, Waterloo, Schulich). Last year (2017-2018), I took a year off school due to personal reasons, and since then have not done much during the year. I have good grades, but slightly average EC's and WE. Do I still have a shot at investment banking if I start networking now and prep for interviews? Thanks in advance!

sorry bud, i'm not completely sure you will probably have to reach out to contacts and HR about it. My guess would be most of the larger BB's and some EB's (EVR, LAZ) are still taking canadians, but other places that are smaller or just generally have a smaller analyst class (PJT, PWP) will probably not bother due to the Visa headaches. That's just my guess though. Still spread your net wide.
