do you refer everyone who asks you to?

my bank has many job vacancies and I keep getting emails and messages on LinkedIn from kids asking for advice and/or if I know someone. I do share my experience but I am reluctant to reach out to anyone in my firm about people I don’t personally know. I say they’re welcome to use my name when applying though. I am curious to know how everyone approaches this and how do you help others?

Why do you cucks have to shit on people for something as small as city tier? Who cares if he thinks Boston is tier 1 regardless of whether or not it is. Shut up. Are you in charge of creating and enforcing arbitrary city tiers? Does it make you feel elite that you work in a “better” city than an anonymous professional on this website?

Please don't tell anyone I posted here as I'm not supposed to but I just want to help you because you said your FT offer got rescinded. GP Bullhound is looking for Analysts, Associates and VPs. You should try to get in touch with people there so you can potentially get an FT job again.

Will update my computer soon and leave Incognito so I will disappear forever. How did I achieve Neanderthal by trolling? Some people are after me so need to close account for safety.

  • Grit / hunger to be in IB
  • Knowledge about the industry and job
  • Relevant academic, extracurricular, and / or internship experience
  • Good story for why IB -- not just because everyone else is doing it

  • Clear interest and rationale for my firm, firm type (EB vs. BB vs. MM), group, and location

  • Good cultural fit and tries to have conversation rather than Q&A session

  • Asks for referral and follows up with recruiting / application updates

Your endorsement can be a valuable boost for candidates who are deserving, because others in your firm put value on your opinion. But if you start to indiscriminately recommend people, your opinion would lose value and you'd later be unable to help someone who is deserving. So you need to protect it.
