Does not being able to head out to drink with your team affect you in your internship?

Heading to a BB for a SA position in 2021, but I will not yet be 21 during the summer at all. Will this affect me bonding with my team and potentially affect a return offer?

Funniest

Yeah, if you don't pull up with the full time analysts with a fake they'll think you're weird and you won't get a return - much more important than any work you do or how well you get along with them. Good luck getting a full time offer without going out with them.

I wasn't 21 when I interned, neither was another one of the interns. Both of us got offers. This will likely depend on your team, but my team had group outings at least once a week and we'd all go together, no one was ever asked for ID at the entrance or inside the bars/spots, so it was never an issue. Even if your team doesn't do this, you can always ask to go out and grab coffee, the answer will pretty much always be yes. Your bank will also likely set up things like lunches during the day where you'll be able to talk to/bond with the others, or other events. I wouldn't stress it!

Don't confuse motion with progress. You can run in place all day, doesn't mean you'll be moving forward.

If you're old enough to drink but take prescription medication (everyday) that is dangerous to mix with alcohol, how is this viewed? Yes, no one will give me shit for it. But will people view me as the odd one out anyway? Over time, will I have less chemistry with my team or be socially disadvantaged?

lmao you're good bro. if you're weird no amount of drinks is going to change that (in fact it'll probably make it worse). if you're cool no one gives a fuck

Yeah it's unlikely you'll get carded when getting post-work drinks with the group, and just order seltzer or something if you're worried about it. People get it and won't hold it against you. I was 20 during my SA stint too and it didn't matter at all. The one time we tried to go to a bar that did check IDs, my MD pulled the bouncer aside and talked him into letting me in.
