Does this mean I got waitlisted / rejected?

Had a superview for a full-time IB analyst position at a respectable MM bank (e.g., Blair / Piper / Baird) last Thursday and today I emailed the HR asking if they had any updates on my candidacy / application given that I had other offers on the table currently.

The HR responded, informing me that it takes 1-2 weeks to determine which candidate will move forward in the process and receive an offer.

From what I've read on WSO, IBs tend to give out offers pretty fast after the superday so does this signal that I got waitlisted / rejected or is 1-2 weeks just a natural timeline for certain MM banks?

Thanks!

If it's Blair, they did just fire 20% of their bankers so they'll probably take it slow with offers for this summer.

Besides that, it's safe to think that you are waitlisted. They might have extended offers and are waiting for those candidates to get back to them. They usually get 2 weeks to decide, so you might just get a call back in a month. Don't annoy the HR, keep your head up and start grinding with other banks

I was in similar situation with MM bank and a couple days after my super the HR reached out saying they were going to make a decision on hiring in next week or so and to let them know if I had any offers in the meantime. That was a week ago and haven’t heard anything so I assume I was also waitlisted/rejected.
