Why would you risk? I'd say go for networking, and do not revamp your resume. Chances are your resume do stand out and then goes viral, a thing you would not want to happen.
Stick with the standard resume design and have your resume passed along by bankers or just make sure they vouch for you.
Based on everyone’s feedback I’ll definitely bring stocking with the standard format! Thanks for the feedback. At least now I know why I didn’t get so many call backs lol
Be sure to put a picture of yourself on it
Unfortunately I have done this before. I learned from that mistake!
The best way to stand out on a resume beyond good work experience is the interests section. If you have any cool hobbies, know a lot about a particular topic, or just general knowledge of something put it on there. Great conversation topic too. If you have "running, reading, travel" that's a huge waste of space. I think the IU Kelley IBW resumes do a great job of having a range of interests prominently displayed, go look at those for some interesting examples.
Other than that, your resume should be in a typical format, colors, etc. Banking is not an industry that applauds creativity.
This. Before I had applied, I didn't know the "interests" section was of such great moment. I have been asked questions on my interests by LITERALLY every interviewer. Do not include your picture, though.
I will definitely include some things there. I agree that putting the standard travel etc just makes your resume blend in with everyone else's and is wasting space honestly
drop a big fat picture of you, underaged and drunk at a frat party - should make you stand out.
I already said this. Write your own jokes, bud.
sorry didn't see it must have opened the thread before you posted bud
@pan european monkey great minds think alike
I included a picture in the past and lets say I learned from that mistake LOL
At least people knew what you'd look like when going for networking coffee.
“The nail that sticks out is the one that gets hammered down.”
It will go directly in the trash pile if you do.
That's where Its been going. luckily I managed to land a few cool internships but I applied to an astronomical amount of things.
It does. As dumb as that may sound people will assume you don't know what you are doing if your resume looks different. That's what I have been told and my black and white gem has been working for me just fine.
You would expect people to like a little change but I guess not. Finance and tech are super different but in tech they encourage that. All my friends r in tech so their advice always clashes with what I hear. Thanks!
