Don't get offers after final rounds

I've had 15 final rounds since 2019 but I only managed to get 2 offers, that's a paltry 13% "success" rate.

I mean this has nothing to do with "there were better candidates" or the "interviewer probably had a bad hair day" anymore. Rejections covered all sorts of interviews, those that went great and those that went bad.

The only two offers I got were with a BB and a start-up, but I've had interviews with BB, MM, UMM PE, and a hedge fund. I've prior T2 IB and EB experience and go to a target.

Occasionally, I also did mock interviews with BB and PE senior people, but nothing was fundamentally flawed with how I talk or come across.

Meanwhile, my friends convert most of their final rounds, even at very competitive banks and PE shops, and more often than not even have the luxury to choose among multiple great offers.

What should I do?

In your view, what would a realistic success rate for you look like? 50%? 65%?

I understand you wanted to see more offers after interviewing with 15 firms, but having been offered two jobs at all can be considered lucky these days. The market isn't as easy as it used to be. IMO, this has nothing to do with you. Short of interviewing you myself or knowing you in person, I think it would be difficult to provide specific feedback as to why you only have two offers.

Given my background, yeah, I should be able to pull off a 50% final round to offer rate.

I think you are correct with the market assessment when it comes to getting invited to interview in the first place. But my problem is that apparently I do poorly at final rounds, while barreling through the first and seconds rounds in between.

Of course, it always comes down to small things that lead to my rejections...one bad interview out of 9 great interviews and I'm out, getting a question wrong that I'd prepared for and should have known, mostly small blunders in interviews that don't happen when my prep or not knowing stuff during interviews that I suddenly recall a minute after the interview is over

First of all, congrats on your offers!

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter how many offers you have as you can only take one anyways.

Your friends may have the option of choosing but then there's always the question of "what if they choose wrong etc." For you, maybe the sole BB offer you have would've been the best regardless of how many offers you got as that team does something you like and you like them and vice versa.

As someone mentioned, its a lot more competitive nowadays + the market has changed. For example, last year at LBS / LSE, kids who would've gotten at least 5 offers only ended up with 1 or 2 etc.
