Double Degree Laurier BBA/Waterloo BMath?

I recently got admitted to the aforementioned program, which was my backup. I know it's not considered as prestigious as some other programs in Canada, but in trying to mentally brace for worst case scenarios, I'm wondering what my prospects would be of breaking into ib on Bay. Thanks in advance.

That video shows that Waterloo is fourth in Canadain recruiting. It's not a target like Desuatels, Queen's, or Ivey, but it's developing a strong reputation and presence on Bay Street. Keep a high GPA, know what you need to for technicals, and you should be fine.

Yeah one thing to note here is that when looking at Laurer/Waterloo, these are jobs spread across many programs (BBA, Double degree for Laurier which has 600-700+ students, and AFM + FARM for Waterloo which has 800+ students per year).

When comparing these placements to Queen's (475 students per class), Ivey (600-650 people) and Desautels (Idk how many people), the concentration of investment banking/buy side jobs in the these three schools are tremendously higher than any other school

Graduated from one of the double degree schools mentioned and can say that the double degree program will definitely not hinder your ability to break into banking in Canada.

Several people I know from that program made it to various Big 5 and even some globals in Toronto. As some people already mentioned, off cycle co-op is a great opportunity to land an IB internship role which is invaluable come recruiting for summer or full time as you already have the requisite experience.

Many Waterloo and Laurier kids break into Big 6 banking so I wouldn't worry about that at all. Focus on figuring out if that's the path you want to take and explore different things while in Undergrad.
