Ducera M&A

Saw that Ducera hired John Vaske, former Goldman M&A Global Chairman, last week.

Vaske and Chris Grubb (former Greenhill M&A head) now run the group.

These guys have been rx players but looks like they are ramping up the M&A group.

Any color here? are they hiring juniors?

These guys are the wear multiple hats at all time sort of shop. Have talked to a few juniors there and it was clear that an analyst could be staffed on anything and everything. They have been trying to build a bunch of businesses inside the Ducera mothership, with RX mandates as their core knitting - but exceptionally scrappy and able to take down other stuff as well. Buckle up if you want to get a spot there, I have a ton of respect for them but it’s a wild experience from what iv heard.

Have a friend who works there. Analysts and associates work across all product groups (M&A, RX, Contingent Liability, Capital Advisory) with some offices focusing more on certain verticals. Junior team members are able to flex towards a vertical that they're interested in. There is also no industry specialization, meaning if an analyst wanted to be a true generalist they could work across all 4 product groups and across all verticals (which is kind of insane). With the Vaske hiring, seems like they're hiring associate, director, and MD laterals with M&A experience. The laterals will probably be focused on M&A but may flex to workflows on other verticals.
