EB Summer Analyst Experience

Hi,

I will be at an EB next summer (think EVR/Moelis/Lazard/PWP) and wanted to see what the lifestyle is like for summer analysts. I've heard some crazy stories but would like to hear from someone who has gone through the process at an EB recently.

Also, what are some of the things I can do to prepare myself/be more efficient to avoid pulling as many late nights?

Thanks!

Congrats on the gig. Lifestyle will vary greatly between different interns and during different parts of the summer - getting it easy requires a fair bit of luck. Some people leave as early as 7-8pm if they have no work, and others get slammed til 2-3am. Same thing applies to weekends. The only way you can prepare for the workload is by staying healthy (mentally and physically), and maybe clenching your cheeks.

If you ask 10 people how you can prepare for the summer, 9 will say just relax. I will tell you that practicing Excel/PPT shortcuts will pay dividends, as you will finish things up more quickly and thus be more freed up to triple check your work. As far as finance knowledge goes, you really don’t need much for your SA stint.
