Emerging Markets Investment Banking/Advisory?

Hey all I was to curious to know if anyone here has ever had any experience with EM IB? I'm currently an intern at an EM Brokerage firm that is primarily a heavy brokerage model, however recently as of the past year or so I believe (I don't know full details as i've only been at the firm for 6 months) the firm has created an advisory arm where we try to do M&A, IPOs, and Fundraising across CEEMEA & Asia regions. My work so far has been typical analyst work where I've been building decks left and right, conducting research, and building my own investment thesis (so long as it follows my MDs thesis) and putting them into the decks. So far I've only built one model and it's only been an industry forecasting model. No live deals yet.

My question is this: Is there a market/industry for EM IB? So far it's been hard to get deals going but I've only been a part of our IBD for 3-4 months and I assume it's normal hard for deals to come by. I think long haul there is potential in this since we have such a niche focus but I could be wrong.

Anyone have any experience on this? Views and thoughts? I know there are a bunch of funds with EM strategies as i've met a very large amount of investors at the conferences but I haven't found any IBD for EM, on WSO or anywhere else.
