Energy Investment Banking help, trouble getting LinkedIn replies

I’m trying to pursue a career in energy investment banking and have had a couple interviews but no luck in getting offers. My next step has been reaching out to MDs or others on LinkedIn for advice/referrals but I’m having a lot of trouble getting replies. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances?

Finding people to connect me to their first connections has been hard as well as most people I know don’t know anyone in the field.

I’m located in Alberta! Basically the Texas of Canada. I’d be open to relocating but definitely don’t see a line of sight towards that yet.

Would recommend emailing rather than using LinkedIn - at least in my experience, getting people to respond in general is really tough but they are much more likely to check their emails rather than LinkedIn. With that being said, I would put their emails into apollo.io or a similar email sourcing app to find it and then go from there - it's not all a numbers game either, make sure that you are emailing people with a similar connection (alma mater, hometown, even high school is fair game) in order to increase your chances, and of those, make those emails hyper personalized. It only takes one good connection made at the end of the day.

Reaching out on LinkedIn is your biggest problem. Some of the best bankers are never ever on LinkedIn but they check their email 24/7. Also use an email tracker to see if they open it.
