Equity Research to ECM
Just wondering how likely it is to complete the associate (equivalent of analyst in ER) years (2-3 yrs) and then move to ECM as an associate? Does it happen? is it common?

Career Resources
Definitely doable and I’ve seen it happen. I find that our ER guys have very good grasp of public markets and some are good at speaking to clients as well. Make sure to network internally and get to know the ECM/Syndicate teams to understand if you’d like the role because it’s quite different from ER (less analysis, more phone calls, more client/investor interaction, etc.).
In general, ECM is not a super difficult product, but it requires you to enjoy following the markets, networking and get used to a different and sometimes mich higher pace than ER. Exit opps are different too, but if you really like the product (as I do), you can make a very good career out of it.
