Equity Research to Private Equity

Anyone who can share their thoughts/path from Equity Research to Private Equity in Europe?

Not sure if that’s even a common path, but maybe somebody could say a few words how PE funds look at ER analysts/associates? Is it more difficult to get than going straight from IB? What skills specific to ER help you the most in PE job?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the answer, any idea why that is? I always thought that you would surely learn a good deal of fundamental business analysis over some time spent in ER. Is that because of lack of experience in M&A deals?

Do you reckon that an internship in ER (3 months) would be looked upon as a disadvantage? It would be an addition to a 3 months long internship in IB converted into FT, which was then accepted
