I think it was Microsoft's goal to reduce the amount of time to complete tasks. They have chart and pivot table recommendations, new color scheme options, and you can share spreadsheets online.
Mostly aesthetic changes. Some changes to Pivots and a few new database related functions. Here's a quick demo from Mr. Excel.
Interested in this as well. Did they just update Excel or the entire Microsoft Office package (e.g. Word, PPT, and Excel)?
I hate having to learn new keystrokes, especially since I just got up to speed on 2010.
Usually keystrokes are backwards compatible. In excel try alt+d and you will see what I mean. If you still have your old keystrokes memorized you will usually be able to still use them as long as they don't conflict with a new one.
Just got office 2013 yesterday. so far, most things look the same, except for the aesthetics. not a huge fan of the color scheme. and seems slower on my comp too
I like the new Excel; as others have mentioned, the changes are mostly aesthetic. In the new Excel, when you change worksheets, the transition glides, if that makes sense. I like the changes MSFT has made, although, I hate Windows 8; it looks so damn stupid.
Thanks. I think BTbanker is right. With new features as Quick Analysis and Recommended Charts, Microsoft tries to reduce the number of steps to complete tasks.

At the end of the summer I downloaded the Office 2013 preview to see how it compared to 2010. The main changes I noticed off the bat were 1.) Microsoft is really pushing Skydrive integration and 2.) the appearance mirrors Google Docs (i.e. symbols on the ribbon, tabs are now written in all capital letters, etc.)
On the new feature end though, has anyone found anything that bankers will find useful or desirable?
ive been using the final version since oct. 24th (i have an msdn subscription) and havent really noticed any non-visual changes. It does use little animations when navigating around cells and changing sheets which was annoying at first but now im used to it.
The "New..." screen that comes up when you open it is kind of stupid (not using online templates anytime soon).
It also defaults to one sheet on a new workbook now not 3, but you can change this.
Flash fill is also pretty cool but cant say ive used it much
I wish that they would overhaul the VBA IDE to get it out of 1998 and add modern features from visual studio like intellisense but i dont think this will ever happen
you can turn off the "New" screen in the Options menu. Overall, looks snappy and better looking
i already have 2003, 2007, and 2010 on my machine. i don't need anything else
Why all three? Is this something your firm decided?
We use OpenOffice for everything. Mind you, we are a tech firm.

New versions of MS Office rarely come with anything more than usability updates and cosmetic changes. This one is largely the same as the last.
