Exits after summer analyst?
Let's say, hypothetically, one hated their summer analyst stint (in coverage at a BofA/Citi/Barc/CS type bank). What opportunities exist to transition to roles outside of IB for full time? Thinking about stuff like MBB consulting, sellside ER at a top shop, buyside ER at a top shop. Obviously, I'm sure all of this can be done, but I'm wondering how easy / common it is.
Edit: Anyone have thoughts about the asset management transition specifically?
I think the MBB switch is fairly common and the switch to consulting is a very easy sell. If you are at a decent bank and case well you have a good shot at MBB.
I know you said outside of IB but if your group just sucked you could look into FT spots at other IB banks. I have seen JPM / Qat / MS all posting FT apps at my school.
Good luck
Thank you. Do you know if working at a mid tier BB gives you a decent shot at MBB?
Yea man anything BB IB will be more than enough on the credentials side of things. I have seen people go from regional botiques to MBB.
Whats more important for MBB is that you're at a target school and have a good gpa. does MBB do OCR for you?
