FAANG->>> IB???
Hey guys,
Feel free to lay one into me for thinking any of this or support me, genuinely open to getting shit on. Anyways, I’m graduating this semester from a semi-target school with a comm degree;). I interned at AWS on their Federal Tech Sales team working with all of the 3 letter agencies, received a certificate in solutions architecture and have experience in Python, took a valuations course through Wharton online as well. Prior to this internship, I interned at a small start up where I wore many hats- outside sales, sales enablment, business analyst activities, project management and solutions/client success. Before that was a sales intern at a law firm in CHI selling into corporate f500 legal departments. So as much as my degree is comm, I do have some hard skills and proven ability to do some nifty DCF’s;).
Now I know my background isn’t astounding, but would interning at a FAANG hold some weight here? Am I being ludicrous? I can get a sales rolenwith $120k on target earnings w $20k 1st and 2nd year bonuses as a junior sales rep w/ 20-25k RSU’s/year and that scales into the high 200’s for mid-markets at the few companies I have offers at. So pay or any of that shit isn’t the issue. I’m not sure if that’s a well-known thing here, but IaaS sales has huge money and it’s fairly easy. But, I honestly am not sure if I want to do sales. I have the acumen and ability, but I love the grind and I love utilizing my analytical abilities, more than bullshit sales. I enjoy sitting in excel and building models, I enjoy scripting in Python for fun, and I certainly enjoy long-hours (I have terrible ADHD and having no-life, when I choose, helps me stay away from impulsive decision making. So- what do you guys think? Would I even get interviews for IB jobs? How about rotational programs such as the ones at Credit Suisse in the COO program? Or UBS? Or actually on a group?
im more than happy to hear I’m being retarded and I don’t have a shot at interviews, but thought I’d see what you all think. Money isn’t my motivator, I just genuinely enjoy the banking life style much more than sales, comp is somewhat similar so yeah. Let me know what you all think. Also- I know other roles I can find in tech so no need to touch on them.
IB is sales
