...then maybe you should quit if you feel like you're in hell.
A friend of mine did two summers at DB. Got a full time return offer. This is when they were restructuring. It was horrible and she hated it. She did their analyst training in London and quit in exactly a month lol. Works at a top consulting company now and seems much happier :)
I hope she didn’t pay back her sign on bonus
If you want to move to an IB “exit opp” and not restart in a different role (like switching to consulting as an analyst, etc), it’s probably not feasible until the one year mark. However, I have seen numerous opportunities come up to leave after a year.
I know people have left to hedge funds pretty quick
Yup have seen people move to HF in under a year and a few opportunities came up near 3 month mark. However, these are usually pod shops or smaller HFs, so pretty high likelihood you would be out of a job within 2 years and have a pretty unmarketable skill set. Not many people were interested even if they hated banking.
3 weeks
What did they do
One summer EB --> Megafund
Yup same here from what I’ve seen. 1 summer top BB —> MFPE full time.
Fastest I’ve seen is 4 months in 2 separate cases. 1 analyst left to a buy-side analyst role, and the other was fired.
Lmao what did they do? I feel like it’s nearly impossible to get fired within 6 months
They lateraled and the expectation was that they’d be more prepared than they were. Dude wasn’t bad, but the group that hired him had some really shitty MDs and they weren’t willing to work through it.
When I was at MM, we hired an analyst from Big4 consulting. He legit quit 9 days after hitting the desk and went back to his old firm. Allegedly a week later, he asked an MD if he could come back and "try again" but our MD shot that down right quick.
Heard about someone at AGC Partners quitting like 1 week after starting a few years back
Don’t blame them
Zesty MD comment on AGC. Care to elaborate on your experiences working with them / what you have heard about them from your side of the table? We all know they are one of the biggest memes out there.
