Who's your favorite banker? Gary Parr and RIP Bruce Wasserstein
This could depend on office, I've heard the NYC office is mostly their restructuring group with minimal exposure to other areas.
was some small regional banking firm headquarter in Minnesota before Lazzard bought them out to get exposure to even smaller deals
FYI... the smaller Minneapolis based firm was called Goldsmith Agio Helms and they had a good reputation among lower to middle MM firms before the acquisition, although I don't have much for current info
I had an interview for their NYC office with one of the partners. He told me that they are focusing on restructuring right now, but they see an uptick in M & A activity in the coming months and the practice will be about 50/50 for some time. They're very selective too.
Thanks a lot for the comments!! It's my 2nd to last interview and I hope that I can get an offer/2nd round.
Can anyone add more input? Thanks!
PM me if you'd like to know more about the firm, I will be an SA in Minneapolis this summer
I can't comment on the interview process, however I can say that Lazard MM is a very reputable firm in the middle market and would be a great place to work.
I can't comment on the SA process, but my FT superday was all fit based. I met with 9 or 10 different bankers anywhere from associates all the way up to the chairman of the bank. Also included a brief writing test regarding the M&A landscape going forward - looking for writing style not so much financial/economic aptitude.
what are their exits to PE like? are they comparable to Jefferies, Harris Williams or are they worse?
