FCA/CISI Exams

Got an offer to start in April. Firm told me I need to pass Units 1 and 2 of the FCA exams and also said I need to pass at the latest 4 weeks after I hit the desk.

Was just wondering what would happen if I couldn’t pass in that timeframe? Surely it doesn’t mean they will fire me after all the recruitment, background checks, visa and relocation expenses the firm has gone through right?

Obviously I plan on killing it for preparation, but just a thought that crossed my mind.

P.S. any tips for preparation? Firm supplied some online course to go through.

We have had some grads being fired after failing 2 times the FCA exam. Would take it seriously

My firm wants me to start in May but hasn’t officially sent the offer or told me what to do beyond the requirement of passing these - what exactly are the names of these FCA exams, and can you take them online?

I’ve been getting mixed results from Google

For IB M&A, banks tend to require the constituent exams of one of the 2 following CISI programmes:

Late to the party but there is really limited information on this online despite being a requirement for every new joiner in the UK which is odd. Anyway, you will have to pass the regulations and the securities exam and you will likely get access to a learning platform like FitchLearning. If so, both will be manageable. If not, you are quite frankly doomed. Given you got access to such learning platform, the regulations exam will be a pain in the ... and you just have to spam mock tests and hope for reasonable questions on test day, but most people will pass. Will require a significant time investment though, minimum of 40 hours I am not kidding. The securities exam is a piece of cake.
