Feeling Lost
Current rising junior studying CS and Finance. I have solid campus involvement and currently doing a strong sophomore summer internship at a private equity firm with over $200B AUM.
I'm currently struggling to find a junior-year summer internship. Unfortunately, I completely missed the on-cycle recruiting timeline, and the few boutiques I've reached out to since have all rejected me.
At this point, I'm not sure where to go from here, so I'd really appreciate any advice. My goal is to work hard in my early 20s and build a strong foundation for my career. I'm worried that missing out on a good junior summer internship will put me in a position where I'll have to spend several years trying to lateral into better opportunities later on.
The uncertainty around securing a junior-year internship has been pretty stressful, and I'd be grateful for any guidance from people who have been in a similar situation.
If you got this current internship with less experience, I'm sure you'll land something now that you have this big PE shop on the resume. Just keep hitting up decision makers at firms you'd want to work for.
Not to get into a doomer mindset, but I feel like most of these firms have already wrapped up recruitment for SA 27
Oh, well okay then you’re fucked. Is that what you want me to say? Just keep trying… what other option do you have?
