FIG Associate who wants to break into metals and mining - how can I do it?

FIG wasn't niche enough
Do an internal transfer, they will let you keep your seniority and it'll be an easier transition since you'd already know the bank's way of doing things while learning a new space.
Once you have a year or two there you can move to the best groups on the street. Pretty hard to lateral externally into a top group from a completely unrelated coverage area (esp FIG as it's one of the most different you can get)
Commodity prices starting to come down and interest rates starting to rise … why would you do this to yourself? Get help
No one can advise you on the best way to torch your career like this. Looking forward to the FIG->Metals and Mining->eventual transfer to pulp and paper
Haha...I honestly had no idea that paper was a legit group until I networked with someone there at a top BB. A lot of the money's in the un-sexy subverticals, but I just have a hard time imagining anybody getting excited over paper and packaging product. To this day, I'm in awe that Paper is an actual subvertical

Best group on the street is hands down BMO Metals and Mining Toronto.
