UVA and Michigan both get better recruiting than Emory and Wesleyan... doesn't matter if you're not in the business school, you can still take advantage of the school's network.
I think he meant Michigan State and not actually University of Michigan. I'm not sure about the presence of either in finance, but I think that he made a prudent choice for the long-term in deciding to go between Emory and Wesleyan. Of the two, I think Wesleyan.

If you don't know about the presence of either (notably Michigan since you must live under a rock), why are you commenting?
I know I have made a couple threads on here and I really hate to be annoying but I have got most of my final decisions now. I am on a waitlist at an Ivy which I will attend for sure if i get in but in the mean time I have to make a decision:
I am transferring as a sophmore this fall and go to a flagship California state school that is a nontarget. I have an internship at a boutique this summer. I hope to break into IBD in NYC.
I decided to turn down some state schools (UVa and Mich...I got in as Econ for both) because I am seeking a more personalized private education.
I am choosing between Emory (I hope to get into the B school junior year) and Wesleyan. The reason I like Wesleyan is because it is relatively easy to get good grades there, a lot of the kids won't be interested in banking making it easier to utilize the alumni network and stand out. My main concern is that Wes has little to no OCR and that the kids/faculty are probably really weird and leftist.
Thanks for your input
having visited wesleyan when I was looking at schools, I don't think it would be a bad choice. You are right that you will have a relatively small amount of competition in attempting to break into banking coming out of there, but you will have to do a lot of the leg work on your own with the lack of OCR (which is fine!)
Wesleyan is a very interesting school because of the type of students it attracts, but perhaps that's part of the charm. It is a fantastic school and is extremely diverse. I know a bunch of kids end up in finance out of there, whether it is a product of their own personal/family connections is a different story. End of the day though, if you're motivated and do well there you will end up with a good job. Off the top of my head I know kids in the past few years have landed IBD, BA at McKinsey, etc.
I was accepted to Wes for UG, but decided to go elsewhere. Those are all great schools to transfer into. Congrats!
OP here, I got into University of Michigan not Michigan State. Like I said, I want a smaller private education, I am not only transferring because of my hope to get into IBD but also because I do not like the largeness of my state school.
My draw towards Emory is its strong Greek life and access to major metropolitan area (Atlanta isn't NYC/LA/Chi/Boston but its still a major city and probably fun to be near whereas Wesleyan is in the middle of nowhere).
I've heard Wesleyan is full of a bunch of leftist weirdos but open curriculum and notorious grade inflation with little competition for banking sounds enticing.

I'm having a hard time choosing lol
I'm still thinking you should just go to UVA or Michigan if you want BBIBD in NYC (what everyone on this site has wet dreams about). Both schools have two of the strongest Greek systems in the country which you said you like, and both schools have massive alumni networks and brand names that are recognized internationally.
If you're still stuck on Emory vs. Wesleyan, go Emory. Gouizeta (sp?) is pretty solid.
Congrats on your acceptances, though. They're all very good schools.

I would agree with this post. UVA or UM should be the top choice, but if you want smaller, go Emory.
I think you may enjoy the SE regional banks more anyway (STRH)

U.Mich and UVA tons are on the street.
