Finance Entrance Path
Hi, can anybody tell me if this sounds like a good path to finance. The reason I am not going straight for a degree from Ivey or Queen's is because I am very interested in engineering and I would like to learn about it more for my own personal pleasure.
UofT Mechanical Engineering (4 years) --> Immediately after graduation- Rotman School of Management Skoll Program
- This program allows people to skip the 2 years of work experience and enter directly to the Rotman School of Management for an MBA
So any comments?
Nsci - Math, Stats & Finance Opt perhaps?
You don't need a finance major to get into wall st.
who hires rotman people anyways ?
you want to be a trader or ibd?
I would like to be a trader a little more, but either would be fine
So would it be better to just go straight to a business school? And are summer analyst positions offered to engineers as well (S&T and IB)
either will not be fine. two very different jobs. i would get some exp before grad degree

MBA with no work exp = NO NO
Focus on getting an internship and you will be fine. What you major in isn't a big deal. The problem arises when you are an engineering major and have no finance internships or experience at all. Go get bloomberg certified. Go join an investment club or group on campus. Take CFA level 1. Do stuff like that to make your engineering degree and resume look finance related.
