Finance & Political Science: Does it Look Bad?
Hey guys,
I am currently a second year student at the University of Texas at Austin and I have always been interested in Government and Politics and recently declared a second major in Government and formerly I was just a Finance major solely. I am interested in entering IB the future (with the ultimate goal of going to Law school eventually, but that could easily change).
As far as internships and possibly full time interviews and whatnot would recruiters be like "WTF why are you a Government major as well as a finance major, it doesn't add up, GTFO!" Or do they even care?
Thanks
based off of what I've read on this site, I can say with 99% certainty that they won't give a shit. I'm sure they run into tons of people who have majors not directly related to finance that are studying those majors because they actually enjoy the subject. it shouldn't hurt at all.
no one cares. just make sure that if you major in finance, you know your technicals and you get good work experience. glad you actually major in something you like unlike all the asians/indians in my school that major in finance and accounting.
That's fine, the extra major will not hurt you.
You can still be a finance major and go to law school while taking electives in government/political science here and there. As long as you're still taking finance related electives pertaining to the industry you want to enter, and if you can graduate on time (4 years) and somehow all of the political science classes you choose ends up as a major then yeah you should be fine. Econ/political science double major is extremely common, and most people don't double in finance/political science as the differences in requirements can force one into needing an extra semester/year to graduate (which isn't looked upon favorably by banks).
LOL
