Firm not paying for interview flight and hotel

After a few interviews a boutique asked me to come on site for an off cycle superday. I'm very excited about the opportunity but they aren't paying for interview travel expenses and as a broke college student, I don't have that much disposable income.

The interview is on a Monday, and the sunday-monday flights are $600 while a tues-wed or wed-thurs would only be $200. Do you think it's a bad idea to ask them to reschedule the interview so I can save $400? I know that money won't matter if I receive the offer, but if I don't it's another story. Additionally, does that say something about the # of candidates they're having come on site/how serious they are about me if they can't even pay for my travel expenses?

if you've already had a few interviews with this firm and if they are interested in you, then it should not be an issue to ask HR to cover your travel...they know you are a broke college student.

just google it...you're welcome

in that case, you can say that you won't be able to make it monday, but that you could come in tuesday or wednesday. you don't need to specify why, and frankly, they shouldn't care.

just google it...you're welcome

also...a firm that doesn't have the money to cover basic travel expenses is not rolling in dough...not a place i'd want to work...how are they going to pay you the big bucks?

just google it...you're welcome

Haha idk they have multiple offices and a few reviews in the WSO salary database paying over 100k for first years after bonus. Idk why they're being stingy about the travel expense and leads me to my points in the original post.

yeah disagree, i interviewed for an SA role at (STRH, HW, WB, Lincoln) and had to pay my own expenses to fly out. allbeit it was in a tier-2 city, this practice is not that uncommon

Smaller boutiques don't cover cost of travel. That being said $200-600 is a small price to pay for a job, that is if you're confident in your ability to interview.

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.
