I made some connections with a person at one of BarCap's offices and he said I'm going to have a first round interview some time in the next month. At this point in the recruiting process, is this really a first round interview or is it just a "get to know you" type of thing?

SA recruiting CAN start this early, but it really depends on how he phrased it. Barcap definitely does have some accelerated programs, although from what I've seen they're usually for special groups (minorities, women, etc). A solid connection might do the trick.
Well, I got in touch with this guy through some connects from my hometown that I've known since elementary school. He forwarded my resume to HR and now I've got this interview with this VP he knows.
Yes, this is for SA 2014. Also, I know this office actually isn't taking in any summer interns, so it would count for another office? Can VP's and MD's complete interviews for positions not in their own office?
