For those who were laid off and had to take a role outside of IB, what type or role did you switch to and do you plan to return to IB?
I was affected by firmwide layoffs in 2023 and had to take a role outside of IB (still same industry coverage). I’ve recently had several recruiters reach out and questioning whether I should return to IB.

Pretty much the same thing. Stayed in the same industry just in a different advisory role. Considering going back but feel a little too experienced to want to do an analyst 1 spot again. Thinking of doing an MBA to soft pivot back.
why would you do a MBA to pivot back if you already have IB experience?
