Freshman college student trying to break into IB

Hey everyone, I’m an incoming freshman business student at a T30/non-target (but still huge school) and I’m trying to position myself for IB recruiting early.

I know sophomore recruiting starts pretty quickly, so I’m wondering what I should be focusing on during freshman year. I have a few questions for people who were once in my position.

How important is relevant experience before sophomore recruiting?
What kinds of internships/clubs/projects should I target as a freshman?
How early should I start networking and technical prep?
For people from non-targets, what helped you break in the most?

Any advice would be appreciated.
