From Factoring to IB
hey everyone,
I am looking for some career advice.
I am currently working as a credit anayst in the Global Banking and Markets dept. at an important Commercial Bank in my country. For those who don't know, this is like a top tier accounts -only Corporate Banking dept.
I have loved my experience here so far, since ive been able of digging into importate corporations' financials, learning about sophisticated debt structures and I ve taken a look at various industries/sectors while gaining great knowledge in financial analysis and, to a lesser extent, financial modelling.
A few days ago, I was offered the chance to become Head of Factoring (deparment that manages this product). Nevertheless, it has always been my desire to become part of a boutique investment bank/private equity firm team as an analyst. Although I have applied and contacted people I know in a few IB, they said recruitment may not start until next year.
I am attracted to the position that has been offered to me here (because pay is significantly better than what I make as an analyst) but I am afraid that in the long term this decission could make me deviate from my career goal of getting into IB.
I am 23 years old and i got my undergraduate degree last year (Business & Economics) . I am currently studying for the CFA Level I for the june exam (please don't mind judging this decission since I already payed for it).
What would you recommend? Should I stay on my current position and gain more experience on this job or should I give this other position a try?
Thanks!!
bump
