Joining top rx group this summer but want to do M&A now..

Going to a top (EVR/HL) rx shop and after doing a gig in distressed PE/HF investing, I realized I want to pursue growth related work rather than looking at shitty companies and fighting pennies for the dollar. The issue is that I did not network a single bit for M&A during recruiting given my commitment to RX at the time. Was wondering how do I best approach this? I understand that I can still do Buyout investing from these groups but now I feel like I'd rather get a strong skillset in M&A than just LME's/distressed advisory work. Don't go to a target school per sey either..

I guess this is one of the cons of recruiting kicking off so early. You never really know what your interest is until you try it and fck these banks really pressure you to figure out what you want.
