Hi all, can’t seem to find much information on fund finance interviews and guide

had just did the first round of interview and was told that there will be a written credit assessment. Does anyone have any idea on what I should expect for it and how can I better prepare?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, preparing for a fund finance interview and a written credit assessment involves a few key areas you should focus on. While there isn't a direct mention of fund finance interviews in the context provided, we can infer from related topics on leveraged finance and credit analysis what might be relevant for your preparation. Here's how you can better prepare:

  1. Understand the Basics of Credit Analysis: This is crucial for any written credit assessment. You should be comfortable with analyzing financial statements, understanding cash flows, and assessing a company's financial health. The goal is to evaluate the ability of a company to repay its debts.

  2. Familiarize Yourself with Fund Structures: Since this is for a fund finance position, having a solid understanding of how different funds are structured (e.g., private equity, hedge funds, venture capital) and how they operate can be beneficial.

  3. Review Financial Modeling and Valuation: Be prepared to possibly engage in some form of financial modeling or valuation analysis. This could involve projecting cash flows or valuing a company based on different financial metrics.

  4. Study Debt Instruments: Given that fund finance often involves working with various debt instruments, make sure you're familiar with the characteristics and structure of debt, including senior, junior, mezzanine, and equity components. Understanding the difference between investment grade bonds and high yield bonds can also be helpful.

  5. Prepare for Scenario-Based Questions: The written assessment may include scenario-based questions where you'll need to assess a particular investment or financing decision. Practice analyzing different scenarios and formulating your recommendations based on the data provided.

  6. Brush Up on Market Knowledge: Having an opinion on the current state of the fixed income and equities markets can be advantageous. Be ready to discuss recent trends and how they might impact fund financing strategies.

Remember, the key to success in any written assessment is to clearly articulate your thought process and justify your conclusions with solid reasoning and evidence. Practice writing concise, coherent analyses under time constraints to simulate the conditions of the assessment.

Lastly, while the context provided doesn't specifically mention resources for fund finance interviews, leveraging the general advice from the WSO investment banking interview course and credit analysis discussions can be incredibly beneficial. Good luck with your preparation!
