Geo with Energy PE experience…. Can I break In?
I'm currently graduating with a geo master's (I know, lucky to be here), and I've been interning for a small O&G PE firm for about a year.
I know I'm going to have to network my balls off to get anywhere in IB but, is it worth the shot? Does my experience help at all?
I want to get into IB with a larger firm for more job security. The current shop runs a lien operation, so I'd like to get into a corporate position.
I have a strong O&G background, but I'm willing to diversify my industry focus. Will IB firms even look at my resume or laugh it off?
I've seen some IB energy analyst roles pop up on job boards and have applied to them.
Need any advice I can get for moving forward.
Seen plenty of geo bios, definitely doable at a Houston IB shop. Hardest part will be getting inside of the interview process. Be networking and prepared for an IB interview complete with technicals at any moment. Would probably come in as an analyst.. Good luck.
