Getting a dog while in IB

I really really really want a dog. However I am a second year analyst in IB. I don’t work insane hours (like 60-80 on avg.) but I’m in office 4-5 days a week. Is it possible to have a dog while in IB? Any advice? Never had a pet before but definitely want to get a dog at some point

Definitely not a dog. I’m heavily involved in the dog rescue space and IB isn’t a job where you could have one and take good enough care of it unless you lived with a spouse/roommate that would help. A cat could be doable though, would maybe just need 2 if the OG one got lonely.

Great to see the correct answers on here.

Anybody working a full time job, even a 9-5 job, 4/5 times a week should not be getting a dog. It's just selfish.

Edit: If you are throwing MS at me for this then know that you're one of these selfish pricks.

If you really want a dog, wait until you leave IB and only do it if you're pursuing a chill exit. Would also recommend pushing for a few months between jobs so you can devote your full attention to training. You never really know what you're getting when you adopt a dog. I got a dog in college and he had terrible separation anxiety... He literally could not be left for a minute and it took around six months of dedicated training to fix it. He's a great dog now but it was a very intense transition period and I would not have been able to do it without a partner.
