Getting Junior Summer Internship B4 Soph Summer.. Need advice
Hi! Need some insight - just got my offer for junior summer, and don't have anything lined up for soph summer - would it be weird to ask the bank im signed at for junior summer if I can tag along as a sophomore summer analyst this summer?
for reference this bank does a sophomore program but they are on the fence about doing it this year i guess -
And for explanation sake yes i know it's crazy early for an offer, but I started networking with this specific group/team during freshman year and they ended up really liking me i guess lol
Any insight or advice would be appreciated on what to do this summer
Hey there! Congrats on securing your junior summer offer so early, that's quite an achievement!
Now, about your sophomore summer, it's not weird at all to ask the bank you're signed with for junior summer if you can join as a sophomore summer analyst. It shows your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. However, do keep in mind that they might have their own processes and plans in place, so be prepared for any answer.
If they're on the fence about running a sophomore program this year, your interest might just tip the scales in favor of it. But if it doesn't work out, don't worry. There are plenty of other opportunities to gain experience and skills relevant to your field.
Remember, the world (of finance) is your oyster. You can use this time to hone your skills, network, and prepare for your junior summer.
And hey, Goldman loves to poach sophomore interns from other banks for their junior internship, so who knows? You might end up with an even better offer!
Keep swinging from those branches, and you'll reach the top in no time!
